One woman commented on this story, "...don't your nipples show? I mean I'm not that large but I'd be paranoid that people could see my nipples." And another woman wrote, "...Unfortunately, the media seems obsessed with who is or isn't wearing one; often reporting these incidents as fashion faux pas celebrity news. Maybe if society were a bit more accepting of personal choice when it comes to dressing breasts there might be less controversy over such basic rights as breastfeeding in public."

Who cares if your nipples show. Until the 1930's men could be arrested on beaches in the US for being shirtless as it was thought women had to be protected from the sight of a man's bare chest. It was a very big deal if a man was shirtless in public. Nowadays no one cares if a man is shirtless. Back in the late 1800's if a woman showed a bare ankle, it was scandalous. Then the sight of a woman's bare calf in public in the 1920's was considered immoral. Now bare ankles and calves are common.

The same would be true with women's bare breasts and nipples. If it was legal for women to topless sunbathe, 50 years from now, no one would care. And people wouldn't care about women breastfeeding in public or if nipples were showing under clothing.

It was no big deal then, so why do people equate the sight of bare breasts as bad now in the US?

The morality police and governments always have to try to control the citizens. And clothing is one of the ways they do it.

So we say, who cares about going braless. We should be fighting for the rights of women to be topfree on beaches instead. Women in the 1600's had the right to be topless in public, they should be able to win back that right.

Breathtaking Mountain Views at Terra Cotta Inn

Look at the above photo. Those are the beautiful San Jacinto Mountains in the background. They go from sea level to 10,800 ft and act as a wall to keep all the pollution and rain from Los Angeles out of Palm Springs. They are the reason our town is a desert and why Palm Springs average less than 3 inches of rain a year, making Palm Springs the sunniest city in the US and a nudist playground for the world at Terra Cotta Inn.

Unless you have a 2 story or higher building blocking your views of the mountains, most hotels and resorts in the Palm Springs area have great views of those mountains. As you can see, Terra Cotta Inn's mountain views are indeed spectacular.

Terra Cotta Inn is set back maybe 3 miles from the mountains and as everyone in town knows, the further you are set back, the better the mountain vista. Also, in our location, we get more sunshine compared to hotels in the shadow of the mountain as the sun sets on the lower part of the mountain for us. This time of year, we have an extra 20 minutes of sunshine. In the summer, we have an extra 1 hour of sunshine. And we all know nudists love the sun. Even if guests are sitting under a big umbrella here, they just love knowing that they are at the sunniest resort in all Palm Springs and extremely happy they picked our resort to vacation at.

The famous architect Albert Frey, the father of mid-century modern architecture built our resort here on Racquet Club Rd. specifically because we are in the sunniest part of town. Being built originally as a celebrity resort, the Hollywood set wanted their suntans, thus here we are. It only takes an extra 3 minutes to get downtown from our location, compared to being in the shadows of the mountains, yet nudists get the benefit of the extra sun at TCI.

And being in the sunniest part of town is a major advantage for TCI and is one of the many reasons why we are the most popular nude sunbathing resort in Palm Springs, California and have the highest occupancy rate.

Well, after you look at the above photo, it seems hard to believe, but there is actually an ad on some naked places website where they write that they have "breathtaking views of the San Jacinto Mountains." They then have the audacity to write that a certain, very popular 17 room nudist resort in Palm Springs, which they did not name (but it is obviously us, The Terra Cotta Inn) does not have breathtaking views. Just looking at this photo you can see this is not true.

When I was president of the Chamber of Commerce in Palm Springs, California, we worked hard trying to convince businesses in town that negativity and being jealous of more successful businesses does not work as a long term business model. You should work hard to get your own customers instead of bad mouthing other successful businesses and acting desperate to try to get a head in a bed. It doesn't look professional.

Here at Terra Cotta Inn, we work hard to teach people why Palm Springs is the best place in the world for a nude vacation and why Terra Cotta Inn is the best, most fun place for your vacation. And once they are here, our guests have a great time and come back and come back which is why we have one of the highest repeat guest rates in the whole travel industry at just over 80% repeats. And that's repeats from around the world, not just locals coming out on Saturday nights. I am way to busy making sure our guests are happy and loving their vacations or volunteering time with The American Association for Nude Recreation promoting nude recreation in general, then to waste my time trying to think up silly ads. For instance this July 24th, 2011 the Los Angeles Times newspaper gave us a Readers Choice Award for being the most popular of ALL small resorts in ALL Southern California, nudist or non nudist alike. We have been open over 17 years and we have always been the go to nude sunbathing resort in Palm Springs since the very first day we opened for lots of reasons.

We made Palm Springs famous as a nudist vacation destination and we are still the major reason why nudists come to our beautiful town. For instance this October 2011, AOL Travel, UK picked us as one of the 10 BEST nude sunbathing resorts in the world and the only one in Palm Springs that was recommended. And earlier in the year The Australian Newspaper, Australia's National newspaper also picked Terra Cotta Inn as one of the 10 BEST nude sunbathing resorts in the world. Again, the only one in Palm Springs that was recommended. Of course in other years the USA Today, Huffington Post, Chicago Tribune, New York Times and way more have picked Terra Cotta Inn as one of the 10 best in the US or world. We work hard to be the nudist leaders in town and the press knows it.

We were the first nudist resort in the US to have top of the line king sized beds as standard in rooms. Guests ALWAYS tell us that they sleep better here than at any other hotel anywhere else that they have been to.

We have always been the best value nudist resort in rthe US and one of the best values of all hotels in Palm Springs. Do you look at the online weather forecasts for Palm Springs, California? http://Accuweather.com predicted all week that today Palm Springs will be mostly cloudy. This photo was taken 5 minutes ago, so much for mostly cloudy.

Weather.com and wunderground at least say partly cloudy and it is true I do see a few clouds to the north at least 30 miles away from the sun track. Palm Springs is the sunniest city in America, but for some reason Accuweather and other weather forecasting sites never got the message. Nudist History was made - The Nude Night Out with Cathy Ladman Show was a GREAT SUCCESS

The crowd never laughed so hard in all their lives. Cathy Ladman was a big hit. The guests loved her. And she loved performing for our guests.

We made nudist history last night! And will make TV history next year when the show airs.An A list comedian has never performed before at any nudist resorts, ever. And to be shot for mainstream TV is even bigger.

Cathy Ladman, the famous comedian said it was the BEST show of her lifetime. And she has probably done over 1000 shows. She was so nervous performing in front of a nude audience here, but she pulled it off.

Cathy, the director, and her manager said it was so good, they have to be super careful on how they edit it, as they think they shot Emmy caliber material last night.

Sadly, we have signed a confidentiality agreement (which is understandable as they do NOT want anything leaked to the press). They took a few pics of the 3 of us with my camera. They wouldn't even let me photograph our special events room to show how they decorated it as they do not want that leaked.

They had cameras going for about half the day showing how they set up the room, interviewed us, guests that wanted to be interviewed, etc. http://clothesfree.com was here and they even interviewed Cathy. They are letting ClothesFree TV air that before the show.

So thank you everyone that attended. We all know what a great time we had. And once it airs on TV, I'll let everyone know.

We met Cathy on Monday as she is wonderful. Very sweet, down to earth, and funny in person.

Cathy felt producing her show at the top clothing optional resort in the US will be a great way to get her message about eating disorders out to everyone as nudists are the one group of people who are naturally happy in their own skin. She wants to learn from us why we are so happy and comfortable with our bodies and at the same time entertain us with her fun brand of comedy. We opened the doors for mainstream advertising and public relations with the Palm Springs tourism department, Conde Nast Traveler Magazine, and many more publications. When we first opened, Lee Baxandall, the founder of The Naturist Society, asked us to change our toll free number and stop saying it was "fun" to vacation in the nude. Within a few years though, we changed his mind and all other nudist resorts attitudes and nudist resorts all started marketing themselves as being fun places to visit like us.>BR>

From a review of The Terra Cotta Inn - We are the BEST nudist resort in America for first timers

Nudists all know we are the BEST nudist resort in the United States for first timers. Even our local newspaper, the Desert Sun reported we are the most mainstream nudist resort in American and perfect for couples trying topless or nude sunbathing for the first time. But, not all first timers know this.

I just read a review of our resort from a couple that has been to many nudist resorts. This is what he wrote:

"...The wife, my wife, not just any wife, did have a blast playing tug-a-war with Jude. She, Jude, really is a cute puppy.

One observation that I made while at Terra Cotta Inn, ... was that there does appear to have been a slight shift in the demographic. It seemed like there were more young adults around the pool than I remember seeing in prior visits...I prefer to think that the whole Nakation idea is catching on. We can only hope.

A couple of more notes about Terra Cotta Inn. This especially goes out to first timers... If you're thinking of that nude beach in Hawaii, Jamaica, Florida, etc, as a place to introduce your reluctant, nervous, unsure, wife to nude sunbathing, social nudism, or any other variation of the theme that doesn't involve being ogled, leered at, or surreptitiously photographed... STOP THINKING NOW! You're obviously not very good at it. If at all possible, Terra Cotta Inn is the sort of place you need to take her too if you expect to have a rat's chance in the crazy cat lady's house of ever having her say let's go back. Unless, of course, she's into being ogled, leered at, surreptitiously photographed, etc. Once off the beach, some clubs, while not open to the public spectacle that ruins many nude beaches and first experiences, are pretty serious about concepts such as nude, clothes free, nudist, etc. If she's at all spooked by the idea of being nude amongst strangers, a clothing optional resort like Terra Cotta Inn is the perfect choice for a first visit..."

Well we thank him for his honest opinions. Still, every week we get calls and e-mails from people who took their wife or girlfriend to a nude beach or another nudist resort for her first experience and she hated it. And he now wants to know how to convince her to try our place. Rarely will she try it as in her mind all nude places are the same which is not true. Go as our guest wrote, if you go to a wrong place, good luck getting her to try it again.

We just got back from vacation

We were in Europe the last 2 weeks on vacation. One of the nice things about owning a nice nudist resort like ours is we spend lots of money on our guests, so we get lots of miles on our credit cards to use on vacation. Lots of our guests use their miles to vacation with us too.

Above are 2 photos from the harbor in Copenhagen. One is the famous Little Mermaid. The other one is a more modern mermaid right in front of a small strip shopping center by the harbor entrance about 200 yards from the Little Mermaid.

The Little Mermaid is the most popular tourist attraction in all of Denmark. Notice she is topless as is the modern mermaid. Millions of children see these topless mermaids every year. Yes, kids see these topless statues and the country of Denmark is proud of them. No busy bodies whine saying the statues need bikini tops because of the children.

At the World's Fair in China last year, Denmark actually transported the Little Mermaid for everyone to see. This is how a country should be. Proud of it's heritage and accepting of the human body, even if it is only the top half on a mermaid.

Contrast this to one of the biggest boobs in American history, John Ashcroft our old attorney general. You can see him talking in front of the "Spirit of Justice," (naked justice for all). Ashcroft was so afraid that when people saw him talking in front of that statue, they would say, "there are now 3 boobs in the room," Ashcroft actually ordered the statue draped, even though Lady Justice has been a symbol of Justice going back to Roman times and some even say Egyptian times. Of course for an extremist like Ashcroft, justice meant nothing unless you were a billionaire.

These statues are the perfect answer to people when they say we can't have nudism, "because of the children." The answer is so what. The kids will be fine and the Little mermaid proves it. Millions of children see her topless in Europe.

Terra Cotta Inn is always upgrading our resort

Nudists all know we are the nude recreation leaders of Palm Springs. That is why other nudist resorts even pay for google adwords to appear on google whenever someone types in the keywords words "Terra Cotta Inn".

Yes, even though the lodging industry greatly frowns on hotels advertising on other hotel names especially with adwords, for instance you will never see a Hilton place ads on Marriott's name on the internet, we understand that some places don't have our repeat guest rate percentages (Terra Cotta's is 80% repeats, one of the highest in the travel industry). We assume these places need short term business really bad in these hard economic times and are hoping to get some of our overflow.

Although other places have been advertising on our name for years, and guests of ours constantly comment that they would never stay at those places, even when we're full as they don't like how those places are taking advantage of all our hard work, we have never complained as those places admit by their advertising, that Terra Cotta is the nudist resort leader in Palm Springs which is why they only advertise on our name in Palm Springs.

Terra Cotta Inn has been open almost 17 years and we have always been the go to nude sunbathing resort of Palm Springs.

We opened the doors for mainstream advertising and public relations with the Palm Springs's tourism department, Conde Nast Traveler Magazine, and much more. We were the FIRST of all nudist resorts that let everyone else know it was FUN to vacation in the nude.

We were the 1st of ALL hotels in Palm Springs to convert our pool and Jacuzzi to state of the art salt water systems so we don't have to use all the harsh chemicals.

We were the first of ALL hotels in Palm Springs to install room side heaters for guests to stay nice and warm and nude in the winter.

We were the first of ALL Palm Springs hotels to install high pressure cooling systems poolside and constantly upgrade it and even now most places don't have them as they are very expensive to operate. But, then our guests comfort is more important.

We were the first of ALL hotels to propose to the city of Palm Springs that they start a recycling program for resorts in town. And they accepted that idea.

We were the first nudist resort in the US to have top of the line king sized beds.

We have always been the best value of ALL nudist resorts and one of the best values of all hotels in Palm Springs. We've been recognized by both trip advisor and MSNBC for being such a great value.

We were one of the first of ALL hotels in Palm Springs to offer free WIFI and we were the resort that convinced the city of Palm Springs to make Time Warner Roadrunner to charge hotels only a flat monthly wifi fee instead of trying to extract a daily fee from users. Thus we have never passed on our wifi costs to guests and all hotels in Palm Springs benefit now because of our hard work.

We are constantly upgrading our resort and hotel which is why we have one of the highest occupancy rates of ALL hotels in Palm Springs. Here are a few photos of our rooms as we have upgraded them. We have new tile on the floors (commercial safety non slip tile as we care about our guests). Patty is even showing you just how comfortable our new rooms are. Remember you will be sleeping at least 1/3 of your stay here, so comfortable beds are extremely important.

Guests ALWAYS tell us that they sleep better here than at any other hotel anywhere else that they have been to.

Right now, we have installed new tile floors in about 30% of our rooms as we have have just 1 person working at a time here as we don't like workmen disturbing our guests relaxation. Again, we always care about our guests. Hopefully by early next year all of the rooms will have new tile floors.

Nudists all know that we are the nude vacation destination of choice out west. We have couples from all over the US, Canada, England, Australia, Mexico and lots of other countries stay here. Which is why Terra Cotta Inn is Unique. Year round we are popular 7 days a week instead of just weekends like typical nudist resorts.

And of course first timers love our place as we're the most mainstream nude sunbathing resort in the US and as our local newspaper the Desert Sun says, we're perfect for couples trying topless or nude sunbathing for the first time.

We have one of the highest repeat guest rates in the travel industry at over 80%. Lodging Magazine says if a vacation resort gets a 15% repeat guest rate, they are doing really well. Sandals Resorts brags that they have almost a 35% repeat guest rate. So to be an 80% repeat rate, it is really cool.

And what is so nice about Terra Cotta Inn is because we are a vacation resort instead of just another weekend getaway like everyone else, we have different people here all the time. So it doesn't get cliquish here like it would at places that cater mainly to locals.

Of course local Southern Californians also LOVE Terra Cotta Inn which is one of the many reasons why we were just picked by the Los Angeles Times newspaper in their July Reader's Choice awards for 2011 as the MOST POPULAR of ALL small resorts of ALL Southern California. Many places say they are popular ever though they are pretty empty midweek. The Los Angeles Times knows better, which is why they were very proud to pick us. We actually got a letter from the President of the Los Angeles Times congratulating us on our major achievement.

And of course one of the many reasons we were selected is because we are such a fun place and because it is such a friendly atmosphere here. Snobs don't fit in. We recommend other places for them to go.
