Horizon Air will be flying nonstope from San Jose and Portland into Palm Springs

Palm Springs is one of the best travel destinations in the world. One of the reasons it is so popular is we are the sunniest city in America.

When you compare Palm Springs averaging under 3 inches of rain a year, compared to Florida averaging 60 inches, Cancun averaging 50 inches and Jamaica averaging 75 inches a year, it is no wonder people are vacationing and moving to Palm Springs in droves.

Palm Springs was the fastest growing part of California last year.

Now Horizon Air which is a division of Alaska Airlines will be flying nonstop into Palm Springs from San Jose and Portland, Oregon.

If you notice, their flights will be from November 4th until April 6th. What is interesting is since Easter is in March this year, the powers that be consider Palm Springs's season to be over in the beginning of April.

This is so bizarre. We have the 2nd highest occupancy rate of ALL hotels in Palm Springs, only the casino beats us and always will. We are busy all summer long where most hotels in Palm Springs are only busy on Saturday nights in the summer.

I sure wish other hotels would spend more time marketing themselves and being nice to their guests so they have a high repeat guest rates. The more other hotels promote Palm Springs, the better it will be for us.

As an example, we just had a guest check out today. They had been at the Parker Hotel in Palm Springs that has a show about itself on cable TV. It is a 4 star hotel trying to become a 5 star. The Parker is spending a lot of money promoting themselves which is great as they also promote Palm Springs.

The guests told us that they booked the Parker (because of the TV show) and us because they figured we were the 2nd best hotel in Palm Springs right after the Parker due to their researching Palm Springs hotels online. (They had never been to a nudist resort or nude beaches before).

When they left, they told us they liked our hotel much better. Our beds were better, our staff and guests friendlier, in general they said we should have the TV show about us as they considered us the best hotel in Palm Springs. They fell in love with nude sunbathing. Plus, we were a bargain in comparison. And they booked again before they left.

Here's the Press Release:

Horizon Air will offer new once-daily, nonstop jet service between San Jose and Palm Springs, Calif., this Nov. 4 through April 6, 2008.

Additionally, Horizon will add a nonstop jet flight between Portland, Ore., and Palm Springs for the winter season to supplement Alaska Airlines’ seasonal nonstop flight between the two cities. Horizon’s flight on this route will also run from Nov. 4 through April 6, 2008.

“This is in direct response to rising demand from vacationers in the Bay Area and the Pacific Northwest for convenient flights to Palm Springs, which continues to strengthen its reputation as a world-class resort destination,“ said Dan Russo, director of marketing and communications.

The new flights will be operated with 70-seat CRJ-700 regional jets and feature Horizon’s special brand of inflight service, including snacks, Starbucks coffee, and wine and microbrews at no extra charge.

The new flightsare available now and can be booked online at horizonair.com or by calling 1-800-547-9308.

Horizon and Alaska currently serve Palm Springs with year-round nonstop flights from Sacramento, San Francisco and Seattle, and winter season nonstop flights from Portland. Palm Springs vacation packages that conveniently bundle air travel, lodging, rental cars and more are also available online through Alaska Airlines Vacations."

Japanese starting to embrace nudism and nakedness

Japan has always been a litle slower than the US to embrace nudism and nude sunbathing. But, according to this article, it appears that it is slowly catching on there.

Who knows, maybe in another 10 years time, the US will be the only industrial country that does not feel comfortable with nudity.

Great, first the Japanese beat us in the field of cameras, then autos, what next, more nudist resorts?

"Rising sons and daughters get naked as J-birds

"We asked a group of Office Ladies to tell us what they did to beat the heat and the most common answers were 'strip down to almost nothing and sit around without the air conditioner on' and 'sleep in the nude,'" Takayo Yamamoto, a researcher at the Hakuhodo Institute of Life and Living, tells Sunday Mainichi.

A 29-year-old OL shares an apartment with two other young women and the trio is more than happy to get around in the buff when they're at home because it's such a welcome respite from the prim and proper business attire they dress in during the day while working in the money business.

"Getting nude at home is like taking off our 'suits of armor,'" she says. "You just relax. I suppose in a way it's like taking your make-up off."...

Singer Sun Plaza Nakano has romped around naked at home for the past decade.

"By exposing your skin to fresh air, you toughen it up," he says. "I've stopped catching colds, too."

Copywriter Naoya Okada has been a fan of nudism since he and his wife gave it a one-off try for a day 20 years ago.

"We just had so much fun," he says. "Modern people's bodies aren't as sensitive as they used to be. Being naked can be stimulating. I'd recommend stripping off and whipping up a stir-fry or deep fried dish and feel all sorts of body parts where the flying fat lands just so different parts of your body can feel some sort of stimulation." [Tom's note, sorry if hot grease if flying around, I'm covering up nudism, or no nudism, to burn yourself is just plain silly]

Shohei Wada, author of "Ratai Jinruigaku (Naked Sociology)" and a professor at Koshien University, is delighted at the widespread embracing of nakedness.
"My experience at a nudist beach in the Caribbean was unforgettable. It felt so good just strutting along the beach baring all and sundry," she tells Sunday Mainichi..."

Outdoors naked yoga legal in San Francisco

A reader sent me this story that was written in 2004.

There is a lot of buzz on the net about the naked yoga story. I am getting a lot of inquiries about nude yoga as it was featured at buzzfeed.com 2 days ago. So far it is the biggest story of the week there. Bigger than the Owen Wilson suicide attempt and the Paula Zahn secret sex diary story.

Here is what the reader sent me:

"SAN FRANCISCO, California (Reuters) -- Nudists, grab your yoga mats and head for San Francisco.

City prosecutors Wednesday said it was not illegal to perform naked yoga in the city -- even at the crowded tourist destination of Fisherman's Wharf.

Prosecutors dropped charges against a limber nudist, known locally as the "Naked Yoga Guy," who made a habit of striking yoga poses in the buff in order to promote a book and his lifestyle.

The Naked Yoga Guy, whose name is George Monty Davis, had stripped to stretch nearby Fisherman's Wharf, prompting a public complaint. But prosecutors decided they had a weak public nuisance case against him because local laws do not bar public nudity.

"Simply being naked on the street is not a crime in San Francisco," said Debbie Mesloh, a spokeswoman for the district attorney's office.

"To bring a case, a person would have to exhibit lewd behavior, block traffic or impede pedestrians on a sidewalk, something along those lines."

In another case involving a Los Angeles teenager who dropped his pants to expose his bottom, or "moon," passing motorists from a nearby sidewalk, a California appellate court ruled nudity itself is not a crime, Mesloh said...:

Nudist resort is considered controversial because it has families with their kids

I guess being right before the Labor Day holiday, it must be a slow news week in Arizona. Using google news, I see there are many articles about the owner of a clothing optional ranch in the Phoenix area being appointed to an Arizona republican party fundraising committee.

Now in the business journal of Phoenix they write:

"A local businessman's appointment to an Arizona Republican Party fundraising committee is causing a stir because he runs a controversial nudist resort.

Horst Kraus, who owns the Shangri La Ranch Resort near Anthem, was named to the party's Finance Committee.

Shangri La is a clothing-optional resort. It has stirred controversy because it allows adults and children to be nude, and once operated a nude children's camp. The resort's Web site includes images of adults nude and some of children who apparently also are nude, though pictures of the children are cropped...

The Arizona Democratic Party issued a statement Friday questioning Kraus' appointment, pointing to the nudist ranch and whether that meshes with Republican "family values" stances... "

Now we don't book kids at the Terra Cotta Inn. http://sunnyfun.com But that is because we are a 17 room inn. We can't have noisy kids and parents coming out for a Saturday night scaring off vacationers wanting to book a 1 to 2 week long vacation here.

Kids are great at campgrounds, but in my opinion not at boutique resorts whether nudist or textile.

What I find so funny is neither Democrats or Republicans understand "family values."

If they did, our country would be more like Europe where most beaches are topless and many are nude. American politicians would be for teaching sex education to kids.
They would believe in the separation of church and state just like our founding founders did.

And do you know what might happen. Instead of having the highest teenage pregnancy rate in the western world, ours might drop just like in Europe. Instead of having one of the highest sexual assault rates in the western world, again we might have a low rate like in Europe.

Family values in my opinion should teach children to respect themselves and others. They should feel comfortable being nude and realize that nudity does not equal sexuality all the time. This is true in Europe, why not here?

So the Dems should get off their high horses. They should go after important issues like the budget deficit, solving the problems in the middle east, war in Iraq, ect.

And Republicans, I commend you for appointing the owner of a nudist resort to your finance committee. But in my opinion that is probably the only "family friendly" thing that your party has accomplished in the last 6 years.

Sex and procreation in the internet age

One of the readers of this blog sent me this internet joke and I thought it was cute enough to pass on. Hope everyone enjoys it.

With the internet, the world of dating and even sex has changed dramatically. Now the story of the birds and bees has even changed. Read this to see just how much times have changed:

"Daddy, how was I born?"

The father takes a deep breath and answers: "Well son, I guess one day I knew I would have to tell you the facts of life. I didn't think it was going to be today however. Well here's how it goes. Your Mom and I first got together in a chat room on Yahoo. Then I set up a date via e-mail with your Mom and we met at a cyber-cafe. We sneaked into a secluded room, where your mother agreed to a download from my hard
drive. As soon as I was ready to upload, we discovered that neither one of us had used a firewall, and since it was too late to hit the delete button, nine months later a little Pop-Up appeared that said:

You got Male! And that's how you were born."

Hope you all got a laugh.

Naked Yoga is the number 2 story at buzzfeed.com

http://buzzfeed.com is a good site to see what are the popular stories on the net for the day.

The naked yoga story has moved up to the number 2 spot.

As I have always said, people are fascinated with nudity. That is one of the reason why nudist blogs and sites are so popular with so much web traffic.

But, the more people see normal things like nude yoga and naked pilaties, the more they will say to themselves, I can do that. I can also go to a nude or topless beach or a clothing optional or nudist resort.

And if you want a fun, relaxing vacation where the press calls us the most most mainstream nudist resort in America, give us The Terra Cotta Inn clothing optional resort a call at 800-786-6938. Visit our site at http://sunnyfun.com

More on Naked yoga and nude pilates

Mary Clare has been doing naked yoga and naked pilates for years. The stretches help her because of a bad back.

I did a story here on naked yoga last week click here for story and I never knew how popular that subject is.

I have been having a lot of web traffic come to this blog because people want to read the story on nude yoga as they googled the keywords naked yoga and nude yoga.

And today I see that buzzfeed.com click here picked up the post.

Last week Newsweek did a story on naked yoga click here for story Who would have thought that naked yoga is becoming trendy. Maybe it will become as trendy as vacationing at nudist resorts.

Newsweek did a story about us a few years ago where they picked us as one of the best small businesses in America. It is pretty cool that Newsweek is recommending activies that people can do in the nude. It appears that Newsweek is one of the few mainstream publications that is realizing that American's are starting to feel comfortable in their bare skin by traveling to nudist resorts and doing nude yoga.

And if you want a nice relaxing vacation where it is OK to do nude yoga in the fresh Palm Springs sunshine, give us, The Terra Cotta Inn clothing optional resort and spa a call at 800-786-6938. Visit our site at http://sunnyfun.com Hope to see you in sunny Palm Springs!

A negative comment about how nudist resort owners are only in it for the money

I just got a comment from an anonymous person about a post I had written about Brattleboro, VT and saying how people have to be responsible with their nudity. I said I don't walk naked down the streets of Palm Springs, so maybe people should not walk naked down the streets of Brattleboro, otherwise they may find their rights legislated away.

Here's the original post:

click here for the original post

Well this person obviously thinks it is bad that nudist resorts charge money. I guess the person thinks everyone should be able to stay at a Marriott's for free? Or maybe KOA campgrounds should be free? Or is it only nudist resorts are bad because they charge money and it is OK for textile providers to charge.

I wonder, does he/she go to work and say "hey boss, do you know what, don't pay me this week. My showing up at work everyday providing you with a service is my con artist way of getting money from you. You really shouldn't pay me."

Sorry Mr/MS anonymous, but we provide a popular service. That is why we have repeat guests from around the world fly here for their vacations.

Good nudist resorts like ours are not inexpensive to operate. We pay over $50,000 a year in utilities. We pay almost $40,000 a year in giving complementary wine and snacks to our guests. We spend about $60,000 a year in repairs and upgrades. Landscaping is about $15,000 a year. (That is why we have the most beautiful resort in Palm Springs.) And the expenses go on. Don't forget mortgage, taxes of about $25,000 a year (and I am not talking income tax). Insurance of about $15,000 a year. Salaries are a major expense. We are not like th eMexican resorts that can get away with paying workers $5/day.

Also finally don't forget it is expensive to buy a property in Palm Springs. Mary Clare was born in Tampa. Many nudist resorts are located in Florida because you can buy cheap property there compared to California because their weather is so bad. It rains all the time in Florida and you can have a hurricane 5 months of the year.

California is a lot more expensive to buy into and operate in because we have the best weather in America. Remember Florida is the rainiest state in America and California is the sunniest. And Palm Springs is the sunniest city in the USA.

Everyone tells us we are the best value in nudist resorts in the whole US if not the world. Our beds cost wholesale (bought from the Sealy factory, almost $1200 each. And we replace them every 7 years just like a Ritz Carlton and Westin. We have free wifi (A $5000 investment), salt water pool and jacuzzi (another $5000), high pressure misters (initially $6000 and an additional $2500 every 3 years when the compressor wears out), and lots more that no other hotels except Ritz Carltons and Westins have in Palm Springs. And their rates are about 60% more than ours.

No other nudist resort invests for their customers comfort like we do. And that is why we average the highest occupancy rate of all nudist resorts in the world and have one of the highest repeat guests rates at over 75%. Sandals resorts in the Caribbean brags they have a 31% repeat guest rate which is the highest in the Caribbean. We are just over 75%. And the only reason we are not 100% is every time a new person books, they just squeezed out a repeat.

Yes, you don't have to stay here. You can go and stay at a Motel 6 and go to Haulover Beach for free. But, what bugs me about you is you expect free beaches, but I bet you don't belong to TNS or AANR who spend hundreds of thousands every year working to get free beaches and to protect your rights to be nude. I bet you want everything handed to you for free. Sorry, that is not how it works in the real world.

I donated a free week to be raffled off at AANR for their legal defense fund. I give away free room nights every year to protect the rights of nudists to be nude. How much money do you give to nudist organizations to protect everyones right to be nude?

Finally I work about 70 hours a week. Do I deserve to make a salary? Or should I be working for free? Do you work 70 hours a week for free?

You are right it is about the MONEY. If we did not receive any how could we be the best value nudist resort in America?

Here is his comment:

Why aren't YOU being responsible and admitting that your view is about MONEY?

If public nudity is legalized then, guess what, they don't have to pay money to get into the resorts and clubs.

What are you calling irresponsible is nothing more than your con artist way of forcing people who wish to be nude into PAYING MONEY to get into the clubs and resorts.

My answer:

Tom Mulhall said...
Anonymous,
Of course I have a view of promoting my resort. At the same time I promote nude recreation.

What happens when you have irresponsible nudity? You have states pass laws that makes it illegal to be nude in the state. A perfect example is Arkansas. Yes, you will be given a felony if you are caught skinny dipping in that state, EVEN on private property.

What happens when public nudity is legalized? People go to nudist resorts even MORE. A survey in Germany whre nudity IS legal shows one out of evry 7 Germans go to a nudist resort each year.

If public nudity was legal, people would still vacation at resorts. Look at the textile world. It is free to go to beaches and wear a swim suit. That does not mean no one goes to textile resorts.

In Spain all beaches are topless and many are nude. Yet, Costa Natura is extremely popular (a nudist resort in southern Spain).

I suggest you get your facts right before you call me a con artist.

Here in Palm Springs, we have the 2nd highest occupancy rate of ALL hotels in town. Yet, San Onofre beach which is a nude beach is only 100 miles away.

Finally, Haulover Beach is the most successful nudist beach in the US, yet Cypress Cove is extremely popular.

Now many run down nudist parks would go out of business if nude beaches were legal, but nice nudist resorts like ours and Cypress Cove would thrive if it was legal to be nude on beaches in America.

I don't know why you are so negative to me, but I for one would love to see all beaches have nude sections. It would mean I would then have the highest occupancy rate of all hotels. Tom

Democrats bash republicans in Arizona because a nudist resort owner is on their finance committee

There is a nice nudist park north of Phoenix, Arizona called Shangri La Ranch. Horst Kraus with his wife are the owners.

Just like me, Horst has been involved with politics. He is on the state of Arizona's Republican party's GOP finance committee.

Now what is weird is Democrats are trying to make a big deal out of this. I always thought Democrats were for protecting the personal freedoms of Americans.

I am a past president of the Palm Springs Chamber of Commerce. I also was on Palm Springs city council's finance committee for 2 years. No one ever made a big deal out of my owning a clothing optional resort except to tease me.

The Dems should drop this as an issue as there are lots of real issues out there that should be dealt with.

One sentence from this article really bothers me. It is:
"Meanwhile, Democrats say the whole incident proves that their party is more equipped to "protect our children from predators … rid our world of the danger of terrorists and leave them a clean planet."

I hope they are not insinuating that owning a nudist resort is the same as being a terrorist.

Victoria Beckham likes to topless sunbathe

More and more movie stars and other celebrities are topless and nude sunbathing like Victoria Beckham, the old Posh spice girl from the Spice Girls music group. Hopefully soon the American public will realize it is normal and no big deal to relax topless or nude at nudist resorts.

Topless sunbathing also called European style sunbathing in Las Vegas - Our review

The San Francisco Chronicle at SFgate.com, reviewed the European style topless sunbathing pools in Las Vegas. It is interesting to see the reporter's view compared to our take on the topless sunbathing scene in Las Vegas. Of course it was a guy writing about his experiences. (Probably the first time he has ever seen bare breasts in ).

As he writes "pool visitors regularly steal not-so-furtive glances of anything they can glimpse [meaning naked breasts]." And I bet he was one of those guys staring.

The first thing you need to know is the whole purpose of those adult pools in Las Vegas is not to allow women to avoid tan lines on their naked chest. No it is is to try to get some women to take off their tops and to be the "entertainment" for guys which will spend a lot of money on drinks and entrance fees. Margaritas for instance are $12.50. Call brand cocktails are $15.00. Entrance fees for guys are $10 to $50/day. These pools need topless women to keep the guys drinking. We were told some of the pools pay showgirls to topless sunbathe midweek when they can't get "civilians" to topless sunbathe.

Also at Caesars Palace, they have rooms that overlook the topless pool. We were told those rooms are more expensive.

Las Vegas pools are NOT for women where it is their first time topless sunbathing in public as the guys very obviously stare and blatently check out the topless women. They make the women feel very uncomfortable.

At the end of July, we spent 3 days at Caesars Palace. We went to use their Venus pool on a Wednesday for 3 hours and Thurs for 1 hour.

When we got there on Wednesday, the regular bathing suit pool was packed. The Venus pool was about 1/3 full. There were 4 rows of lounge chairs. The ones next to the pool were reserved for high rollers or you could rent them for $150-$250/day depending on how busy they were. They had 6 cabanas that rented for $650-1000 per day or again went to high rollers.

We had to show our hotel room ID. There was no charge midweek for us. When asked, we were told that it wasn't that busy, so they wanted women there. However, if I was not staying at the hotel, they would have charged me being a guy $20 midweek.

We said sometimes we stay at the Bellagio and asked if we could come to the Venus pool. We were told that as long as Mary Clare promised to go topless, then sure he would let us use their pool. However, if they were real busy on a weekend, and if Mary Clare said she wasn't going to go topless, then we would have to wait while they let in hotel guests and women who said they would go topless. It would then be available to us at a fee on space availability.

There are maybe 150 lounge chairs around the pool. We are told we could spend $150 to be next to the pool or it was complementary to sit 1 row away from the pool. We chose the cheap seats 1 row back.

There were maybe 15 couples and another 25 guys with groups of 2 to 6 guys hanging around.

We sat on the lounge chairs. We looked around. Not one single woman was topless. Mary Clare commented, "this is really creepy." A pool attendent walked by and Mary Clare asked "is this really is a topless pool" to which the attendent said midweek sometimes no one goes topless all day long, and at other times a few women go topless. He said they only really have some topless women on Saturdays and Sundays.

Mary Clare told me that even though we own a nudist resort, even though she is comfortable having nude pictures of herself used on our blog and website, she feels really uncomfortable going topless there. However, since we are there to report on the Las Vegas European style sunbathing experience, she decided she will take off her bikini top. I told her she didn't have too, but she insisted to get a full flavor for their experience.

We were restaurant critics in Chicago for 10 years. We learned that even though you may have a bad server, and bad food, if you were to give a restaurant a correct review, you had to go twice and put up with the bad service and food without complaining, otherwise you would not get a true feel for the restaurant. That is why we went to the topless pool 2 different days.

As soon as Mary Clare went topless, a woman sitting right across from us immediately took off her top too. She obviously did not want to be the only woman with bare breasts there.

Then came the next phenomenon. Guys in lounge chairs "had" to get up and walk right past Mary Clare and this other woman. And when they got in front of Mary Clare and the other woman, most slowed down and blatently stared for a second or 2 and walked on. The other woman and her male friend left after maybe 15 minutes of her being topless.

We were there for about 3 hours and it was nonstop new guys walking by stopping and staring as if they had never seen bare breasts before in their lives. Now in all fairness, once the guys had walked by the topless women once, most didn't walk by again. They just stared from their lounge chairs.

When we left at 3pm there were maybe 20 couples and maybe 50 guys there. There was never more than 3 women at a time topless sunbathing. Most woman would take of their top and then either cover back up after being subjected to all the guys leers or they would leave shortly after going topless.

Women wearing bikinis, tops and bottoms were not subjected to the leers.

We had other weird experiences there. Mary Clare got up and started walking into the pool topless. A pool attendent ran over and said "you can't do that." Upon asking what he meant, he said "all women have to wear their tops in the pool. It is topless sunbathing not topless in the pool." Really weird!!!

It was hot. Here at our resort, we invested in a $6000 poolside misting/cooling system. It is state of the art and our guests love it. At the Venus pool, they have the misters like at our resort, but only at the cabanas. Everyone else is treated like a second class citizen and has to suffer in the heat. And the poor women can't even go topless in the pool.

Later Mary Clare got up, topless, to go to the bar which is in the topless pool area, to buy some bottled water since it was so hot. Again, another pool attendent runs over and says "you can't do that." Now the "that" is women can not walk topless she is told. Mary Clare can only be topless while sitting or laying on the lounge chair. As soon as she gets up, she must wear her bikini top. They had the most bizarre rules.

Needless to say, the experience was very unsatisfactory. If you are a woman going topless for the first time, you will feel so intimidated by all the men, you will never try it again. It is not a pleasant esperience like you find at nudist resorts.

Mary Clare, said to me, she felt like a piece of meat on display for hungry dogs (the men). She would have kept her top on except to experience the European style pool for herself.

We went there Thursday. Mary Clare could only put up with it for 1 hour. Now when we got there, there were 2 women already topless sunbathing and at one point including Mary Clare there were 4 women topless sunbathing, but the men were so annoying again. As soon as she took off her top, guys came by to check her out.

We have learned the Venetian's topless pool has already closed. If it was run anything like Caesars Palace's topless pool, it does not surprise me.

All of our female guests that have ever used these pools in Las Vegas midweek told us they hated them as they felt they were on display for the guys. Guests from Southern California tell us on weekends, more women do go topless, so they don't feel quite so much like big exhibitionist, but they do not feel comfortable. They all tell us they would rather go to a nudist resort than then topless pools in Las Vegas if they had a choice. They only went to the topless pools in Vegas because they were there, not because that was their first choice for nude sunbathing.

As the SFgate author writes "Of course, the pools also incorporate a key ingredient for Vegas circa 2007: half-naked women... Steve Davidovici, managing partner of Pure Management Group, which runs the Venus Pool Club at Caesars, said "In Europe, it's not that big of a deal to walk on the beach and have women swimming or sunbathing topless," Davidovici says. "We're just trying to re-create a little of that ourselves."

In conclusion, you can tell no one has a clue as to how to run a nice topless pool. I assume no one has ever been to a topless beach in Spain or France. If they had, they would know, just like we know, the most importnat thing is make the woman feel comfortable. If she doesn't, the couple will never come back. We for instance will never try the Venus pool again unless we hear from guests that it is more women friendly.

Caesars Palaces topless pool is a phony "European style" pool as much as the Las Vegas strip is an imitation of real Venice, Paris, New York, etc.

Brattleboro VT, votes down ban on non-lewd public nudity

From the smokinggun.com website click here

I gave you a link to The Smoking Gun.com as it has the minutes from the city council meeting. I encourage you to read them as you will see the nut cases that America is up against.

"Vermont town votes down permanent ban on non-lewd public nakedness
AUGUST 22--Among the items on the agenda at last night's meeting of the Brattleboro Selectboard was a vote to permanently ban public nudity in the famously tolerant Vermont town. With an emergency ordinance that renders the behavior illegal about to expire in two weeks, board members and townspeople spoke on the volatile issue before a final decision on the ordinance. Below you'll find the unofficial minutes from last night's meeting as reported on ibrattleboro.com. The amusing transcript records arguments heard from concerned citizens, both Bible thumpers and civil libertarians."

Here ae some of the speakers, one pro and one against the ordinance. There many pages of public comments at the smoking gun site:

"Ricky Davis- Talked about a mother who spoke with him and was really upset because a merchant was changing clothes on a mannequin and she was upset that her children were seeing it." I think prozac was invented for this woman. I feel very sorry for her children that they have such a reactionary mother.

A good speaker "Gerry Benjamin-I am opposed to nudity in public, but I am more opposed to legislating away our freedom to choose. We have to be very careful, we cannot be reactionary. This country is very reactionary."

The city council people in Brattleboro, VT should be commended for their sensibly handling of this situation with just a few people appearing nude in their town. Brattleboro has a long history of allowing people to skinny dip. Their law would have outlawed this tradition.

Since 9/11, the trendy thing for governments in the US to do is to bash the constitution and Bill of Rights. Where Bush made the comment, "they hate us for our freedoms," I guess in his mind the way to get terrorists to stop hating us is to do away with our freedoms. Brattleboro almost did this until 3 of the 5 city council members came to their senses.

It is so great that in Brattleboro, Vermont they now seem to be adopting New Hampshires state slogan "Live Free or Die."

the Naked telecommuting story was featured on AOL news

A reader and a hotel guest sent me this e-mail last night;

"Tom, we'll see you next week. Your interview was a featured AOL story today.

.................................................
Do you hate your job? Do you wish you could work from home? Well this should sweeten the pot - a recent study revealed that one in 8 males teleworkers (and one in 14 females) takes teleworking to the extreme - they don’t just work in their PJs - they are actually working in the nude!

For Tom Mulhall, though, telecommuting naked is no joke. Rather, it's good business. The owner (along with his wife) of The Terra Cotta Inn clothing-optional resort and spa in Palm Springs, Calif., Mulhall wrote to us this week "just wearing a smile" to say that 80% of their guests bring laptops and work nude poolside. He was commenting on a study we wrote about last year that found one in eight male teleworkers and one in 14 female teleworkers say they do their jobs in the nude. We find that the guests who are in conservative fields such as law, banking, accounting, finance, etc. would never tell others that they are working in the nude. (computerworld)"

Anytime you ever see stories about The Terra Cotta Inn, nudism, nudist resorts, clothing optional resorts, nude and topless beaches, etc. feel free sending them to me to feature here. Send them to tom@sunnyfun.com

I try to keep up, but with running our resort, I don't see everything.

Pretty cool that the nude telecomuting story was picked us as a featured AOL.com story.

In March, AOL.com reported that we are one of the 10 best clothing optional resorts in the world. We were the only nudist resort in the western US that ws honored.

If you want to do some naked telecommuting on your vacation, we have free WiFi. Give us, The Tera Cotta Inn a call at 800-786-6938. Visit our site at http://sunnyfun.com

Feel free to send me stories - A reader sent a poll on nude sleeping habits

As you come across interesting stories about nudist resorts, nude and topless beaches, celebrity nude and topless sunbathing, nudism, naturism, etc., feel free sending them to me at tom@sunnyfun.com Tell me if you want me to use your name to give you credit.

A reader just sent me a link to a ABC-TV poll from the fall of 2004 about sex in America. One part of the poll dealt with the naked sleeping habits of Americans.

They determined that overall 22% of Americans sleep in the nude. It is 31% of men and 14% of women sleep naked.

That is a pretty high percent that feels comfortable in their skin to sleep naked.

Another interesting part of the survey I discovered is that 54% of Americans consider themselves fun loving. That also means 46% are not.

It is pretty sad that so many Americans do not know how to have fun with their lives. If ever there were people who needed to lighten up and enjoy life it is those that don't consider themselves fun loving. They need to a vacation at nudist resorts really bad.

Australian publication says "young nudists don't hang out"

I for one am tired of reading recent news stories saying only old people go to nudist clubs and nudism is failing to appeal to the younger generation.

There is a new story about this so called "trend" coming from Australia.

We have been to Europe 7 times. When we have gone to nude and topless beaches in France and Spain, we have seen visitors from children to 70 year old people topless and nude. No big deal. No one says "yuk old people."

When we have gone to textile hotels and go to the pool, we always see people from children to 70's. No one say "yuk, old people." (although many do say "yuk noisy kids.")

When you vacation at our resort, The Terra Cotta Inn, we have guests from their 20's to 70's. They all have a great time and no one says "yuk old people."

Yet, many nudist parks and clubs hold on to the old ways of markieting insisting on charging membership fees. They say their members are age 50 and older and they have a hard time recruiting younger members.

In this Australian story, one nudist retreat says they have 80 couples per YEAR. One of the owners, Lisa says "the movement is "extremely healthy", but admits most active nudists are in their 50s. She says the only younger people their retreat attracts are Europeans, in particular Dutch, Swedish and Danish travellers."

We average 30-50 couples per WEEK. It sounds like they need help in marketing with only 80 couples per year. It is not the nude recreation movement that is slow, it is their business.

The Australian Naturist Magazine, TAN for short "sells 20,000 copies every quarter in Australia, and a further 10,000 or more across countries such as New Zealand, Canada, the US and Britain.

Rootsey says he has "lots of younger readers" but they don't tend to join official groups.

"Younger people don't see organized activities as the way to go any more," he says."

Our resort was featured in TAN a number of years ago and I think it is one of the reasons we have as many Aussies and Kiwis (New Zealanders) as we do.

The owner of the magazine hits the problem square on. "Younger people don't see organized activities as the way to go any more." It is exactly what the book Bowling Alone says. Bowling is still just as popular as every with young people, but their membership in leagues is WAY DOWN.

Same with nudist clubs and parks. Young people don't join that much. They go to nude and topless beaches, they go to nice nudist resorts like ours in Palm Springs or ones in Florida, Jamaica, or Europe, but they don't want to join clubs.

Nudist parks and campgrounds have to recognize this change and have to adapt to it especially by doing away with daily or yearly membership fees. When you go to a Marriott or Hyatt, you don't pay a membership fee, so why pay one when you go to a nudist resort?

At The Terra Cotta Inn, we are one of the few nudist resorts in America that does NOT charge a daily or yearly membership fee. And that is one of the reasons we are so popular and busy all the time.

Tha article also writes "compares naturism to the gay and lesbian movement, which has slowly emerged from its cloistered state to variable degrees of acceptance across the world. "They got courageous and came out of the closet. They are not as covert as in the past, but that can't be said for our movement. I think it is fair to say there is concern for the (nudist) movement going into decline."

I have been saying this for the last 15 years. Nudists have to be like the gays and lesbians and come out of the closet. That is why I always point out celebrities that nude or topless sunbathe so that people can say "hey, nude sunbathing is not so weird after all."

I found out this weekend that the preacher Billy Graham used to go skinny dipping with LBJ. To me that is fantastic news as it shows the radical religious right, that solid Christians with good moral values can enjoy skinny dipping. It is for EVERYONE!

My advice to the next clothing optional, naturist or nudist club, resort, park, colony, bed and breakfast, retreat, or whatever you want to call yourself is the next time the media contacts you, tell them that nude recreation is for ALL AGES. Your facility may only have older members, but European facilities and some in the US like ours have ALL AGES.

By saying only the 50 plus market are nudists, this becomes a self fulfilling truth if that is all the media ever prints. So help the nude recreation movement out by saying all ages can enjoy nude recreation.

Now if you want to vacation at a nudist resort in the US were we have guests from the 20's to 70's just like at any other hotel in world like a Marriott, etc. then give us, The Terra Cotta Inn clothing optional resort a call at 800-786-6938. College students from the top hospitality school in world doing a survey on clothing optional resorts

If you are in the hotel industry, you would know that probably the 2 best universities where you can get a degree in hotel management are at the Ecole Hoteliere de Lausanne in Switzerland and the University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV).

This is what is said about the Swiss school. The Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL) is one of the world's best-known and most respected schools of hospitality management. Their mission is to educate students who are aiming for top careers in the international hospitality industry, especially in leading hotels, restaurants and hotel chains. As the first hotel school in the world, founded in 1893, they are the leader in hospitality education.

UNLV's program is also one of the best in the world. What is cool is a few years ago, one of their professors and his wife from UNLV stayed with us so that he could teach a course in Alternative Hotels to his students. He wanted first hand experience at the best clothing optional resort in the west" as he told us.

His course was about clothing optional resorts, gay and lesbian, boutique resorts, bed and breakfasts, entrepreneurship and small resorts, etc.

This weekend we got an email from EHL where they are doing a survey on clothing optional resorts.

Here is the survey:

: "RE: Clothing optional survey

> Dear Mr Mulhall,
>
> Thank you for answering us.
>
> I am sending you the questions.
>
> Questions about the optional clothing concept in the Hospitality Industry
>
> Concept
>
> 1. What are the origins of this concept?

> 2. Is this concept succeeding in your hotel? We mean do you have success with this idea?
>
> Place
>
> 1. Why did you actually chose California to set up this Hotel?

Marketing
>
> 1. What time of marketing did you use?

> 2. Did you use publicity?
>
> Finances
>
> 1. Could you tell us the criteria that determine the prices to the accommodation and restaurant meals?
.
> 2. When did you break even?

> 3. How much did you need, approximately, to maintain your concept?
>
> Human resources organization
>
> 1. How many employees do you have in your hotel?
>
> Costumers
>
> 1. Why do people choose you, choose your concept? Curiosity? Love for nature?

> 2. Normally do they come back? Do they like it?

I thought this was pretty cool that college students (or their professors as I really can't tell) are having a project about clothing optional resorts. I asked them if I could send me a copy of the finished report. I will share it with everyone if I get it.

To me, since this is the BEST hotel school in the worldd, and people there are showing interest in clothing optional resorts, it looks like nude and topless sunbathing is going to be around for a long time and really is as popular (when well run) just like the media says.

SFweekly links to my blog for San Francisco Nudist mayoral candidate

SFweekly is profiling the 30 plus people running for the job of mayor of San Francisco. They profile each person. They say"

"In the past several months, nearly three dozen drywall contractors, clowns and Tony Halls have declared they wish to unseat Mayor Gavin Newsom (and start drawing his $245,749 salary)."

One of the candidates is George Davis, a nudist who is running a one issue campaign to make Golden Gate Park clothing optional. Where did they link for their information? To my blog. Pretty cool. Here is there quote:

"George Davis is mad as hell, naked and he's not going to take it anymore. Ever met a nudist activist? Now you have." In the article if you clicked on "now you have" it hyperlinked to my blog story about the candidate.

Here is the link they have to my blog: click here

Funny topless TV commercial on German TV

We've been to Germany 2 times and Europe 7 times. Like most tourists, when you are exhausted on your vacation before you go to sleep, you turn on TV even if it is in a foreign language.

The one thing we noticed is in most countries in Europe that we have been to (Germany, France, Monaco, Spain, and the Netherlands,) we saw TV commericals where you would see topless women and male and female bare butts in national TV commericals. Now I do not know if they have nudity all day long or just in the evenings as that is the only time we watched TV before going to sleep.

We have also been to England, Italy, and Switzerland where we did not see nudity in TV ads. That doesn't mean they don't have it, we just didn't see it.

Speaking of watching TV, tonight after a busy day at the hotel, we watched World's Funniest Commercial's on TBS. They had a really funny German commercial where a woman was topless in the commercial. this gives you an idea as to the freedom that Europe has concerning nudity compared to the US.

You see a pretty woman getting out of the shower and she puts on a g-string in her bedroom. She then walks into her living room topless. If you were in Germany, you would be seeing her bare breasts. However, living here in the USA where the site of a bare nipple like Janet Jacksons on TV costs networks millions of dollars in fines, TBS blurred out her breasts.

In the living room, the woman walks over to a bowl of walnuts, Picks up a walnut, puts it between the cheeks of her rear end, squeezes, and produces a cracked walnut.

The TV camera then pans to a gym bag that says Leo's Sports Club. It is a hilarious ad.

You can see the video on line at http://veryfunnyads.com On the right of the home page you will see "Features" go to page TWO and click on the Leo's Sports Club Ad.

It is so sad that here in America with our Bill of Rights and so called Freedom of Speech, our TV commercials are censored just like in communist countries like China or dictatorships like Saudi Arabia. So much for America being the land of the free. And when you are at that site you will see many more ads with nudity from Europe.

Although we don't have the freedom to advertise like Europe has, at least America has some of the best nudist resorts in the world. If you want to visit ours, The Terra Cotta Inn clothing optional resort, where AOL.com reported in March that we are one of the 10 best clothing optional resorts in the world and the only nudist resort in the western US that was honored, then give us a call at 800-786-6938. Hayden Panettiere likes to nude sunbathe - NBC her nude sunbathing "squeaky clean"

From NBC News San Francisco:

"Hayden's naked truth
There are your run-of-the-mill Hollywood party girls. And then there's Hayden Panettiere...this 17-year-old "Heroes" hottie remains unscathed. Is she channeling her indestructible cheerleader's superpowers? Even the gossip dirt on Hayden is somehow squeaky clean. The National Enquirer's Mike Walker reported Hayden's recent run-in with the cops. It seems she was nude sunbathing at a gal pal's Malibu home when a police helicopter appeared on the scene, sending Hayden and friend running for cover. You wouldn't catch Britney displaying such modesty!"

For the full story click here

First, for all those stories about how nudists are only old people. It looks like those reports aren't true. It also looks like what I have always said is true. People of ALL ages enjoy nude and topless sunbathing. Obviously, Hayden Panettiere who is 17 years old likes to nude sunbathe with friends.

I like how NBC news considers nude sunbathing squeaky clean. They easily could have said "first Paris Hilton, then Britney Spears, next Lindsay Lohan, now Hayden Panettierre. What is wrong with these young girls being naked where people can see them."

Instead, NBC considers nude sunbathing with a gal pal pretty normal and Hayden to be modest.

Finally, as Hayden Panettiere shows, it is more fun to nude or topless sunbathe with friends.

So as you can see lots of people of all backgrounds enjoy nude sunbathing. If you want to go nude sunbathing, come visit us, The Terra Cotta Inn clothing optional resort. Give us a call at 800-786-6938. Our site is http://sunnyfun.com

Naked Gardening a hit in England

In a positive story on living and enjoying life in the nude, the BBC commented on a couple that does naked gardening.

They hold special days where guests can come and enjoy strolling through their gardens in the buff. They have been having clothing optional garden days since 2005.

Here's some of the highlight sof the story:

"Gardening in the buff takes off

The idea was an immediate success with subsequent days seeing 80% of visitors taking up the option to strip off among the flowers.

Mrs Pollard said: "It feels extremely comfortable - you have a total sense of freedom and being part of nature."

The couple thought up the idea after getting an enthusiastic response from the public to a television programme they took part in about going to work naked.

Naked gardening puts a smile on people's faces...

...One comment from the visitors' book said: "Absolutely fabulous! Especially the riverside walks and the knot garden. Best seen naked!"

Another added: "A really lovely garden - peaceful and beautiful especially without clothes!"

'It feels lovely'

...The days attract between 250 and 300 people depending on the weather with some 80% choosing to take their clothes off, she added."

Doing simple things like cooking, BBQing, cleaning, gardening, etc are always nicer when you are nude. You also have a lot less clothes to clean when you are done.

Billy Graham and LBJ went skinny dipping at White House together

I am really impressed that AANR, The American Association for Nude recreation is actively writing about positive nude and nudist articles in the news.

I try to find as many articles as I can, but it takes time. This article in Time magazine I got from the AANR weekly update.

Thanks AANR, good job!

Here's part of the article:

"Graham was hardly the first preacher to have a White House pass; but he was the first to have one in 11 consecutive administrations, Democratic and Republican, led by men very different from each other who all somehow felt the need to have him by their side. You could almost feel the rest of them hovering protectively over the proceedings in Charlotte: Eisenhower, who asked Graham on his deathbed how you can know if you're going to heaven; Johnson, who invited Graham to the White House within weeks of taking office for an encounter that included both prayer and skinnydipping in the White House pool;"

Insuring against hurricanes in the Caribbean, Florida, and Mexico - Simple, don't go!

In the Sunday London Times their travel expert writes about hurricane insurance for your vacation.

"If you're unlucky enough to be caught in a hurricane, your holiday could be wrecked, not least because if your hotel is judged to be at risk, you could be forced to sleep in a secure shelter along with dozens of other guests.

Insurance won't cover you for inconvenience, but should pay out if you are injured or your possessions damaged."

This is timely advice as hurricane Dean is picking up energy and is moving on a path to pass close to Jamaica and Mexico's Yucatan Penisula next week according to the US Hurricane Center. Right now it is a category 2 and the center says it may get up to a category 4 if it hits Mexico next week.

Hidden Beach Nudist Resort and Desire Lifestyles resort are on the Yucatan Penisula just south 90 minutes south of Cancun right by Tulum. They are in the beautiful green jungles of Mexico. But, most people don't realize the reason it is so green is beacause it rains so much there. That is why it is called the jungle.

From beachesworld.com they write: "The best time to visit Tulum is from December to April. The tropical climate ensures full sunshine and infrequent rains. But being in hurricane zone September and October gets maximum rainfall."

Tulum which is right where the nudist resorts are located, and averages 50 inches of rain a year. Jamaica averages 75 inches of rain a year. Palm Springs, CA averages less then 3 inches a year making it the sunniest city in North America.

For instance last year Palm Springs had just under 0.60 inches of rain for the whole year. This year we have had only 0.07 inches of rainfor the whole year.

Yet, people go to Jamaica and Mexico where it rains 50-75 inches a year. And Florida, according to the national weather service averages 60 inches of rain a year, making it the rainiest state in America. Yes, Florida gets more rain than Seattle and Portland.

We have had many guests that have been to Florida, Jamaica and Mexico in the summer and whine to us how their week or 2 week long vacations were ruined by the constant rain. When we ask why did you go in the summer when it is hurricane and the rainy season. Every single person answers "no one told them summertime is the rainy time in the south.

They assumed the weather in Florida, Mexico, and Jamaica would be like Palm Springs. I thing we need to start to teach geography in our school systems. Travel agents love to sell those all inclusives year round because they make big commissions. So they don't tell you not to go Mexico, the Caribbean, or Florida from June to December.

So here is my advice. Forget about hurricane insurance. You have a simple solution, don't go to Florida, Mexico, and the Caribbean from June to December. That way you will never have to worry about hurricanes or being rained out on your vacation.

If you want to go to a nude or topless beach or vacation at nudist resorts in the summer, go to Spain, the South of France or Palm Springs.

Yoga "scholar" dislikes nude yoga

Naked yoga is one of the most relaxing ways to practice this ancient art of relaxtion. Being nude while doing yoga, you are one in complete tune with your body.

Recently, a yoga "scholar" has written a book saying in his opinion yoga is more "stylish than spiritual."

He says:
"Decrying the fashion parade and sexy outfits in yoga classes, he laments how "modesty, once a highly valued yogic virtue, is considered old-fashioned." He is especially appalled at the concept of nude yoga classes. And he says ancient tantric yoga, which often deals with sexual energy, has been abused by exploitative teachers. It's a criticism he shares with Buddhism's Dalai Lama."

Well Mr. "scholar" the times have changed, so get with the program.

The Olympics in ancient Greece were held in the nude. Over time, they were "bastardized" and athletes started to wear clothes to compete in the Olympics. You don't hear sports announcers decrying that the Olympics have lost their moral compass because athletes now wear clothing. Times have changed and athletes dress has too.

The whole idea is to practice yoga to meditate and relax, or use it for stretching purposes. It is good for people to get in touch with their bodies. If you ned it for spiritual reasons, great, but most people don't need it for "religious" purposes.

Mary Clare practices yoga and pilates for stretching and relaxing purposes. It has been the best thing for her.

Sorry, we are not ancient Buddists and don't wear heavy robes when we do yoga like they did. But then, this is the year 2007 and not in the year 700 AD.

Yoga is not for the elitist few that the "scholar" deems pure enough to "properly" practice it, but is for the masses. It brings so much physical relief to so many people. I for one am happy that it has gone mainstream.

I guess the Dalia Lama is not going to be leading nude yoga classes at our resort anytime soon. Boohoo!

Terra Cotta Inn in Palm Springs just has 4 rooms left this weekend Aug 17th and 18th

Summer is beautiful in Palm Springs. We have endless sunshine as Palm Springs is the sunniest city in America. The weather has been beautiful. Sunny and low humidity. Fantastic nude sunbathing weather!

Because we invested in a high pressure misting system poolside and salt water system pool and jacuzzi, you can stay nice and comfortable in the sun all day long in the summer.

We also have big 9 foot market umbrellas for guests who like to be nude in the shade.

Salt water pools are fantastic as we don't have to use all the harsh chemicals like other hotels have to use.

In July and August, we run our midweek special on Monday thru Thurs of stay 1 night, the 2nd is half priced. We still have some rooms available midweek this August.

And every so often in the summer, we still have availability on weekends such as this one August 17th and 18th.

The bare facts about naked telecommuting

"Working Naked - One In Eight Teleworkers Are Nude

Do you hate your job? Do you wish you could work from home? Well this should sweeten the pot - a recent study revealed that one in 8 males teleworkers (and one in 14 females) takes teleworking to the extreme - they don’t just work in their PJs - they are actually working in the nude! " from trendhunter.com

Back on January 26, 2007 networkworld.com had a story about naked telecommuting where they profiled our resort. I have already blogged about that story.

A reader e-mailed me and found that this story was written about at trendhunter.com I didn't even know about it as it was published on 5/23/07

Trendhunter tries to cover all the "trendy" things before the mainstream people pick up on it. It is a very popular site

So naked telecummuting is now "officially" trendy!

And if you want to have a nice nude vacation, we have free wifi if you need to telecommute. Give us a call at 800-786-6938. Visit our site at http://sunnyfun.com Hope to see you in sunny Palm Springs!

NY Daily News newspaper recommends going to Gunnison Beach at Sandy Hook, NJ nude beach to beat the heat

It is always nice when the press recognize nude beaches and nudist resorts as normal activities for people to do.

In a recent story called: "Chill out!

In a splash, find shelter from the swelter when temps go ballistic"

The New York Daily News recommend 5 things to do for New Yorkers to beat the summer heat. They are:

1. RUN THROUGH THE SPRAY OF A FIRE HYDRANT...

2. TAKE A CRUISE...

3. KAYAK...

4. TAKE A DIP IN AN OUTSIDE POOL...

5. TAKE THE FERRY TO SANDY HOOK, N.J. A 7-mile stretch of beach awaits you on the Jersey shore, just an hour's ferry ride on Saturday and Sundays from Manhattan until Sept. 30. A bus takes you from the dock to the shore. Choose clothing-optional Gunnison Beach, family-friendly North Beach or Beaches D and E..."

I thought it was pretty cool that going to a clothing optional beach and nude or topless sunbathing was considered just as normal as taking a New York harbor cruise, swimming in a public pool or getting soaked by a fire hydrant.

Elvis Presley's Palm Springs home may become a tourist attraction

We have guests from around the world stay at our resort. Although most guests come here just to go nude sunbathing, some guests enjoy playing tourist. We have Joshua Tree National park just one hour away (where many guests go nude hiking). There are musuems, a big desert zoo, live theater, concerts, casinos, lots of shopping and much, much, more.

Now we may be getting Graceland West.

Elvis and Priscilla Presley owned a home in Palm Springs. They had spent their honeymoon here.

Well a couple just bought the home and now wants to turn it into a tourist attraction. A Graceland West as they describe it. That will be one more thing for guests to due on their vacations at the Terra Cotta Inn.

MSN.com lists 4 topless pools in Las Vegas in their top 10 pools list

Yesterday MSN.com had a home page story where they picked the top 10 pools in Las Vegas. Of the pools they selected 4 were topless pools or as the Las Legas hotels call them European style sunbathing pools.

The hotels were the Mirage, Flamingo, Caesars Palace, and Wynn.

We stayed at Caesars Palace for our anniversary a few weeks ago and went to their topless pool called Venus. I will give a report on it in another post.

I thought it was pretty good that MSN picked a number of topless pools as the top pools of Las Vegas.

Here is a picture of the famous Bellagio fountains as seen from our room at Caesars Palace.

Catherine Zeta-Jones says she finds men sexy cooking only in an apron

Now this website's story has nothing to do with nudist resorts. It is just has an interesting story angle.

I guess Catherine Zeta-Jones finds men cooking just in aprons with nothing on underneath to be a sexy turn on. She says her favorite room in the house is the kitchen.

Now this is the reason why I really think this story is interesting. The writer ends with this quote: "Whoa, Catherine, we're having visions of 62-year-old Michael showing off his buns in the kitchen. And we're scared."

What is so wrong with Michael Douglas showing his bare buns to his wife? Why do people think that once you are older than 40 you have to be covered up.

Obviously, the writer is very insecure with nudity.

What is so nice about nudist resorts is naked 20 somethings become friends with naked 60 somethings because nudism is not about outer beauty, but inner beauty.

Now if you want a nice nude vacation, we are perfect. If you are nervous, we are the perfect resort where you can topless or nude sunbathe sunbathe for the first time. Give us The Terra Cotta Inn clothing optional resort and spa a call at 800-786-6938. Visit our site at http://sunnyfun.com Hope to see you in sunny Palm Springs.

Finally, Hi Catherine, I don't own an apron, but but maybe you will want to come to our resort. You can then see lots of guys BBQing naked (big smile).

Terra Cotta Inn has 2 rooms left on Sat August 11th and room for day use guests

Earlier this week I posted pointing out that we had 4 rooms available this weekend. Well a number of blog readers and repeat guests jumped on the opportunity and booked Tues, Wed, Thurs, and Fri of this week.

We now have just one room available tonight on Thursday night, ( due
to a cancellation on a flight out of Arkansas due to rains there). We
are full on Friday night, and we have just 2 rooms available on
Sat night August 11th.

We also have Sunday Aug 12th to next Friday Aug 17th
available. Don't forget, on Mon thru Thurs in Aug, we do the stay 1
night, the 2nd is half priced special.

Rates start at $159/night on the weekend and $139 midweek in August. We include complimentarty breakfast and afternoon snacks. Early check in (10am) and late check out (5pm) at no extra charge.

We rarely have just Saturday nights available, but this weekend, we still have the 2
rooms available.

And the weather is fantastic. Although as we all know weather.com did
their usual terrible job of predicting bad weather this week for us,
(we have been beautiful and 100% sunny all week), now they are
finally admitting we will be 100% sunny and around 106F this weekend with low humidity. Fantastic nude sunbathing weather.

So if you have been hoping to get here for just a Saturday night, now
is the perfect time. We rarely have just Saturday nights available.

We also still have space available for day use on Fri, Sat, and
Sunday this weekend. Day use is from 10an-5pm. It is $30/couple. It also includes afternoon wine and snacks. We book just 5 couples per day for day use. Right now on Sat and Sun we have space to book 3 more couples.

Give us a call at 800-786-6938 to make the reservations. We answer
the phones from 8am-10pm PST.

Hope to see you in sunny Palm Springs!

So if you have been wanting to get out here to go nude sunbathing
this summer, now is the perfect time. Hope to see you this weekend.

What's the latest graduation gift? Boob jobs!

I would not have believed this until I red the article. It is from TrendHunter.com which keeps up on the hot new trends.

For many teenage girls, if they had their way, naturally shaped breasts like Mary Clare's here would be a thing of the past.

According to the Americam Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) 244,124 teens (ages 13-19) had plastic surgery last year. That is double what it was in 2002.

In 2006, 9000 breast augmentations were performed.

In my opinion, this is a very sad that so many young girls feel so insecure that they have to go under the knife. And what does that say about their parents that let them.

According to the article "Jane Fonda agrees, according to the Malaysia Sun. She said she dreads going to Hollywood because she hates seeing all the young women who had had cosmetic procedures done. The star admits to having work done in the past but says she won’t be doing anymore. She wants to spread a positive message to young women, “We’ve got to show young girls that you can grow old and still live and have sex, and be erotic, and have fun - and have wrinkles,'”

Celebrities disclose their swimming in the nude

Whenever I learn about celebrities nude sunbathing, going to nude or topless beaches, skinny dipping, etc. I like to report it as I feel it helps newbies think that if they can do it, so can I. This way newbies feel nude and topless sunbathing isn't that unusual.

In a recent Access Hollywood article and video, they interviewed Ted Danson, Ludacris, Heros star Ali Larter, Lauren Graham, and Tate Donovan from the show Damages all who admitted to skinny dipping.

Ali Larter talks about her skinny dipping:

“There was a magical evening in [the] Hawaiian sea -- turtles floating around. It was one of those things where my dress went off, I went in, my boyfriend went after me and a jellyfish got me,” Larter confessed.

Yes, that’s right! Ali’s risqué swim, sent her to the ER!

“I was in the hospital for like ten hours. I grew up in Jersey so I’m used to it, but this was a lethal, horrible jellyfish and if I could get it, I would destroy it now,” she stated."

For the complete article and video click here

I would also like to thank the AANR E-Bulletin for pointing out this story. I try my best to find interesting stories, but between helping guests answering e-mails, and working at the resort, I don't always find all the good stories first.

In recent years AANR, the American Association for Nude Recreation has been doing a very good job in pointing out how all sorts of people from movie and TV stars to just regular people enjoy being nude and nude sunbathing. They are definately trying to show how nude recreation and nudist resorts are mainstream and perfect for everyone to try.

Jeff Goldblum appears to be a home nudist

Home nudists are people who like to live at home in the nude. They may not be social nudists like others who like to vacation at nudist resorts and go to nude beaches, but nevertheless, they normally feel very comfortable in their own skin.

Well it appears that Jeff Goldblum lives his life in the nude at home and is probably a home nudist.

Reporter Janet "Charlton reports that "many delivery people in Hollywood have something in common - they've all seen Jeff Goldblum naked! The actor is in the habit of nonchalantly answering the door without a stitch of clothing on! All the time.'

An unnamed delivery man tells Charlton: "He's very friendly and acts like it's nothing unusual"

More about National Underwear Day

Leave it to the NY Post to get the "scoop" on all the really important news stories of the day.

Today, they bring you the bare truth about NY women's habits of wearing underwear or not.

The Post did some interviews with some New Yorkers and came to the conclusion that many New Yorker's do not wear underwear at all.

Now we know that when clubbing, many women go without underwear as they don't want panty lines to show, but today's "breaking" news is a major "revelation."

I wonder if Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton know about this trend (big grin).

Now the one positive about this story is as more women feel comfortable not wearing underwear, then hopefully the next step will be they will start feeling comfortable about topless and nude sunbathing.

Tuesday was National Underwear Day

I just squeeked in on the deadline before midnight to tell everyone today is National Underware day. So happy clean underwear to all !!! I am sure Victoria Secrets is very happy with today.

I kid you not about today. Today models were strolling around Times Square just in their bras, panites, thongs, underpants, and boxers. Does this mean nudists can stroll around Times Square in their birthday suits to celebrate nude recreation week?

I would like to thank the photographer Jordan Matter for allowing me to use this picture. And yes, the model really is topless in Times Squares in New York City.
