The very first Nudist Expo ever in the US (and maybe the world) is being held this weekend June 1st to 3rd at the Alexis Park Hotel in Las Vegas. Summer is the best time of the year to go Nude Sunbathing at Terra Cotta Inn, Palm Springs, California

We never realized how much people don't quite understand the geography of California or understand weather until we started our nudist resort here in Palm Springs, California 17 years ago. California has more micro climates than anywhere else in the US. For instance at least once a week we get the question. "how close is the beach to your resort?" When we say 100 miles away, they go "What? We thought the ocean was just a couple of miles away." Then people book vacations to San Diego which is normally highs in the 60's and 70's and call and say "we're freezing in San Diego, we thought it would be warm like Palm Springs because your so close."

Palm Springs is a desert. We are the sunniest city in the US. Where Tampa, Orlando, and Miami are in the top 10 rainiest cities in the summer in the US, we will probably go all summer long without a single drop of rain. We average only 3 inches of rain a year. Last year for instance we only had 2.1 inches of rain ALL YEAR!

What is the #1 thing people want on vacation? Sunshine! What do they hate? Rain! That's why everyone who is in the know, stays at our resort in the summer.

Palm Springs weather is nothing like Los Angeles or San Diego. For instance this weekend, we will be in the 90's and 100% sunny. LA and San Diego will be in the 60's and cloudy. Someone posted on facebook: "Doesn't the heat in Palm Springs get oppressive during the summer though, where you don't want to even be nude outside?"

That statement is so WRONG!. Now it is true, it does get hot, and we are the only nudist resort that is popular 7 days a week in Palm Springs in the summer. One of the reasons we're so popular is we have invested in a state of the art high pressure poolside misting/cooling system. It is fantastic. It's like outdoor air conditioning. Also where other places are cheap and have shallow pools because they're inexpensive to heat in the winter, our pool is very deep, so it stays nice and comfortably refreshing in the summer instead of overheating. Nude Sunbathing is good for your Health

Avoiding the sun because you're afraid of skin cancer is like avoiding drinking water because you are afraid of drowning. Both are necessary for human life.

Budget Travel Magazine last year had an article about suntanning. They cited the usual medical and drug industry messages of the sun is bad for you, blah, blah, blah. Of course they ignore the fact that because of people listening to the medical and drug industries.

Here's from the Budget Travel story:
"It's the official start of summer, and as such it's also the unofficial start of tanning season. But with increasing research and information available about the risks of tanning, is that beach-bronzed skin worth the health threats?"

Sunshine is free – it has no marketing department for its life-giving benefits. If pharmaceutical companies patented and sold sunshine, the message we would receive would be completely different. In America, the anti-sun medical and drug industries earn over $35 billion a year demonizing the sun. And they've done a great job. They have convinced so many people that the sun is bad for you. They have done such a good job, that now 75-80% of Americans have a Vitamin D deficiency (I guess the other 20-25% are nudists ). And Vit D has been shown to help prevent at least 16 different cancers (including skin cancer), heart disease, and more.

The drug companies want to sell you expensive Vit D supplements which have been shown to not be as effective as your own bodies production of Vit D.

It is estimated that at least 600,000 breast and colon cancer deaths each year could be prevented in the US alone if we had more Vit D. Compare this to WORLD WIDE only 48,000 deaths from skin cancer per year. The risk reward ratio is way on the side of the sun. The University of San Diego medical school is doing a 5 year study just started this year on the relationship between Vitamin D deficiencies and the increase in breast cancer world wide.

People don't realize that the American Drug and medical profession don't want you in the sun so they can sell you Vit D, all sorts of chemicals in sunscreen etc. It is BIG business in the US. And Americans are the biggest market for daily sunscreen, especially women under age 50.

In Italy, their dermatology association recommends people get at least 2 hours a day, maximum sun exposure 3 times a week for Vit D purposes.

As everything in life, use moderation.

So don't let the drug industry scare you away from the sun.

Morningside Inn Nudist Resort Guests LOVE Terra Cotta Inn

We just had a couple check out that were previous Morningside Inn guests. They LOVED it here and told us we are now their new Palm Springs nudist home. They reminded us we have to get the word out that we are the ONLY place in Palm Springs Morningside Inn guests will LOVE.

Last year, The Morningside Inn nudist resort was sold. It will no longer be a nudist resort. We were very sad to see Vern and Jill leave Palm Springs as they were friends of ours. We used to hold joint New Years Eve parties together. We always referred our overflow business to them.

Morningside Inn was a 10 room inn on about 1/3 acres here in Palm Springs, California. It was small and charming. They mainly had guests from Southern California stay with them.

Since their sale, we have had many guests from Morning Side Inn stay with us, but I know there are still a lot more Morningside Inn guests that don't know about us.

Terra Cotta Inn is a 17 room inn on 1 1/4 acres. We are 4-5 times the size of Morningside, yet just 7 more rooms. Morningside Inn guests love our spacious grounds and large rooms. For instance our regular deluxe rooms are 300 sq ft which is about the size of the Morningside Inn's large rooms called suites with kitchenettes. In the above photo Mary Clare is posing in one of our regular sized rooms. And our very large rooms with kitchenettes are 500 sq ft. And all of our rooms have fantastic quality king sized beds (for a great nights sleep), refrigerators, microwaves, flat screen TV's, DVD players with free library, in room coffee and more. You can easily stay here for a week or longer. Or just getaway for a couple night stay as we are popular 7 days a week, not just Saturday nights.

Our pool and jacuzzi are both salt water systems. We keep our pool heated to 86F and they both can be used 24 hours a day.

Now that summer is coming we have a state of the art high pressure poolside misting cooling system, the most effective one in the Palm Springs area. Also all of our room air conditioners are 220 volt 20,000 BTU air conditioners. They're very powerful. We know many people make a mistake and stay at other places in the summer with only 110 volt weak AC units. So make sure before you book somewhere else do they refund your money if their AC units can't cool their rooms. Here it is never an issue since ours are so powerful. We are always thinking of our guests comfort.

We serve a free breakfast everyday and afternoon snacks. We use a local restaurant to cater lunches at very reasonable prices or you are more than welcome to bring your own food. Just like Morningside Inn, we allow you to bring your own beverages.

Guests of Morningside were very loyal to Vern and Jill. Now that they have come here, they find they love Terra Cotta Inn just as much. They tell us we are now the only nudist resort they will go to in Palm Springs.

Just like Morningside, we are owner operated, so you get great personal customer service. Morningside Inn guests all say they were looking for personally run nudist resort instead of some big naked impersonal Holiday Inn. That's why they loved Morningside and now Terra Cotta Inn so much. Our guests are super friendly and very nice and social just like Morningside.

New guests here also love the fact that Terra Cotta Inn is a vacation resort, not just a weekend getaway. So they can now come here 7 days a week and meet lots of nice people instead of just weekends like at Morningside and other nudist places.

Why Terra Cotta Inn does not take online reservations

We have never taken online reservations here at The Terra Cotta Inn. Occasionally we get asked why. Today I saw a good article that explains our philosophy. Here is what they wrote:

As all nudists and naturists know, Terra Cotta Inn is the most popular nude sunbathing resort in Palm Springs, California. We are the only nude sunbathing resort that caters to guests on vacation and will even sell out midweek. The press is always picking us as the best nude sunbathing resort to stay at in Palm Springs or out west. Because we are known as the most mainstream nude sunbathing resort in the west and perfect for couples trying topless or nude sunbathing for the first time (from Desert Sun newspaper), we have lots of first timers contact us. As nudists all know, not all first timers realize that nudist resorts are not sex clubs and are not for swingers.

We screen our potential guests with every single phone call. Probably 20% of new people that call were looking for a sex clubs or swinger resorts. We always recommend them to go elsewhere. If we were like some other nude hotels and booked anybody with a credit card, then we would have lots of people staying here for the wrong reasons. Part of the reason we are so successful is we do carefully screen our guests and that is one of the many reasons why we have one of the highest repeat guest rates in the travel industry at just over 80% repeats.

The other reason we don't take reservations online is because we are very popular and do sell out. We get guests calling or e-mailing asking about certain dates where we are already sold out. This way, we can suggest what we have available. Many of our guests are flexible as far as their vacation time is concerned. In the summer for instance we have lots of school teachers. So they can easily pick different dates to stay here.

Once repeat guests learn the way we operate is to ensure they have their best vacation here ever, they are happy we don't book online.
